Plans for extending paternity leave to be reviewed.

The Government aimed to introduce additional paternity Leave and pay alongside the extension of maternity pay to 12 months before the end of this Parliament. The changes would entitle employed fathers to a new right of up to 26 weeks APL, some of which could be paid, if the mother returns to work.

But in the current economic climate the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform is reported to have put the plans on hold.
